THE BURFORD SINGERS

JOINING THE CHOIR

Before reading the information below, please note that there are now over 50 people on the choir waiting list, and so it is likely that the wait for a place will be at least a year, and probably considerably longer. The wait for tenors and basses may be shorter. Why not look at other choirs on our links page, who may have immediate vacancies?

The Burford Singers rehearse on Thursday evenings in the Methodist Church, High Street, Burford, from 7.30 – 9.30 pm. Unfortunately, the size of the choir is restricted to 100 singers by the size of the rehearsal room. We have varying lengths of waiting list for each voice. There are no auditions, but an ability to read music is an advantage, though not essential: one of the aims of the choir is to encourage people to gain or develop singing skills. School and other students are fast-tracked if they wish to gain experience in choral singing with us. All singers are expected to work on learning the music between rehearsals. Membership is renewed/revised annually each summer, but it is sometimes possible to invite new singers for one term only when a short-term vacancy occurs. There are three concerts each year, usually on a Sunday around Advent (Nov/Dec); Palm Sunday (Mar/Apr); and in June. The annual subscription is £110 except for those in full-time education (£Nil): this covers approx. 30 rehearsals, 3 concerts and music loans.

Please fill in the details below so that you may be added to the choir waiting list. When completed please click the button marked submit. Soon after this you will be contacted personally by the Membership Secretary.
